Valentine has a variety of annual and new events that celebrate the town’s traditions, while also introducing fresh and innovative ideas. These activities mostly center around the expansive sports community, with events such as rodeos, fishing, golf, or even fast-draw competitions.
One of the most notable events of the region is the yearly Cherry County Fair & Rodeo, typically held in August. During the five-day event, there are rodeos, 4-H exhibits, trade shows, art workshops, entertainment, turtle races and of course a carnival. Attending the fair is a great opportunity for the entire family to have a day full of fun.
In the month of October, you can look forward to Valentine’s annual Old West Days. A tradition now over 30 years old, brings poets, musicians and storytellers from across the country to Valentine to share their talents and honor traditions. The three-day event is free, unless otherwise noted, and highlights the cowboy way of life they still by live today.
The Heart City Bull Bash, better known as Valentine’s “Main” Event, began over 20 years ago to showcase bull power in the area. The event also includes livestock judging, craft shows, barrel racing, wine tasting and a myriad of vendors available. This event is sure to bring fun to a chilly February day, no matter which event you choose to attend.
